Always athletically inclined Clive began practicing yoga over 17 years ago and immediately became hooked. He studied both Iyengar and Vinyasa Yoga intensively during this time along with most other styles of yoga. Clive’s teacher training began at Avalon Yoga studio in Palo Alto, which was generally acknowledge as having the best faculty and training program back then. He continues to study under some of the Bay Area’s leading teachers. Not a fan of market driven fads or cult Yoga, Clive’s individual teaching style is best described as Vinyasa with an Iyengar influence all choreographed to unique playlists. Clive’s British accent and sense of humor makes his teaching style both unique and fun.
17 years ago in a bid to improve his squash game Clive tried a Yoga class at the Pacific Athletic Club where he was a member. This beginner class was all it took for him to become hooked on Yoga. By the end of the next week he had tried 7 different classes at the club trying all levels including the 2-3 classes. Even though club level 2-3 classes are not as deep as you would find in a studio they were still pretty challenging.
He remembers thinking poses like Twisted Triangle, Pyramid and seated wide legged forward fold were things he would never be able to do.
It took 3 years of persistence on one side and 5 on the other before he could achieve Cow Face Pose without the aid of a strap.
One of the great things about yoga is that you can always feel like you are improving.
